Writing Lesson Plans
Teaching writing to students can be both interesting and exasperating. Some of your students will certainly love penning down a poem, story or research paper. Others will balk at the very idea of writing a few sentences. They will claim they do not like to write or that they are just not creative enough. What you need are some creative writing lesson plans to help get your students’ creative juices flowing.
Creative Writing Lesson Plans for Students:
When you go beyond that same old writing exercise activities, chances are, your students will feel that they have more control over what they write. If they can take control of their writing project, you are likely to get a better response. One fun exercise that you can add to your daily writing lesson plans is a daily class journal. Have each student keep a notebook or journal and allow them to write in it for a few minutes each day. You can provide writing prompts, but do not require your students to use those prompts. Allow them to write about any topic they wish. This will encourage their writing abilities and give them the freedom to express themselves.
Another fun exercise that you can add to your writing lesson plans is a rotating story. After you have read a book or discussed a certain lesson, give the students a writing prompt. Then have one student write a few paragraphs. Pass it around and allow each student to add to it as long it makes a continuing story. Now you have not only a fun project, but also a good idea of what your students enjoy writing about.
There are so many other great ideas that you can add to your writing lesson plans. Do not get stuck in a rut and allow your students to express their unique writing abilities and their creativity.
