Traffic School
Traffic school is a generic term for driving safety, traffic safety, defensive driving, and driver’s education courses. Depending on your needs is how you decide on which traffic school you should look into attending.
The driver’s education variant of traffic school needs to be attended by everyone looking to get a license in most if not all states. It’s usually done in one or two nights depending on the necessary length of the course. At this traffic school they mainly just cover the basics and help to get you prepared for your actual driving test. In some cases driver’s education is actually driving courses that can be offered through a school for high school kids or even offered for a fee outside of schools. This form of traffic school is more or less an actual driving class and contains a set amount of lessons which teach a variety of skills needed to pass the driving test, one can even pay for a one time lesson that takes place right before the actual driving test.
People who have gotten a ticket, assigned to attend by a judge, or just wish to lower their insurance rates generally use the defensive driving form of traffic school. The reason drivers with tickets may attend is to help remove points from ones license, which in turn helps with insurance rates and helps to clean up your license. Those who just wish to attend for the insurance benefits simply need to go and sign up as well as pay the traffic school fee. The others who are assigned to attend by a judge must do so as a form of punishment in order to get their license back or just as a method of showing them the proper way to drive thus making the roads safer.
