Summer School
The are two primary types of summer school and as the name implies summer school takes place during the summer. Before the two primary methods of summer school are discussed a third less common form should be presented. Some towns and cities have non-academic schools during the summer to help keep kids off the streets and hopefully on a better track, this type is more of a community service and offers classes in crafts and sports, and sometimes even field trips. This form of summer school can be very helpful to the children and the community.
One of the more primary forms of summer school that people know are the remedial courses to help students who had trouble passing to be able to move on to the next grade with their fellow students. This form of summer school generally lasts most of the student’s summer vacation giving them on general about two weeks off for vacation. The benefit is of course staying with your friends and progressing through school, if you the students happens to not do well enough or miss to much time they end up having to repeat the grade. Some cities and towns offer summer school right at their own schools, yet others the student may need to have transportation or need to pay for transportation needs, as well as paying for the classes. This can happen if the school has only a small amount of children needing summer school thereby making not economically feasible to have it at their own school.
Lastly some colleges have a form of summer school by having classes during the summer for students to enroll in, the benefit of this is an earlier graduation date, or the ability to get needed credits for graduation. This is very helpful for some students who would like to finish college and start a career earlier. Not all colleges offer this type of course and if you college doesn’t offer it you may be able to take summer courses at a different school but always find out if the credits will transfer fully first.
