This way you can put a face on the various user IDs you see on your screen and create a personal rapport with your professor as well. Many programs do have the first class or a few classes in a while in person so that students do not feel very distant from one another or the instructor.

It is also a good opportunity for subjects where seeing and feeling is the best way to learn about a particular concept. Culinary arts, interior design, sciences and some electronics engineering type of courses are so much better absorbed when you can see experiments, textures, shapes and colors in person as opposed to images on a computer screen.
