Nursing Degree

A nurse can be described at the backbone of the medical profession.  Doctors of course play a key role in your well being, but it is nurses that medical facilities can not do without.  Nurses support the general practitioners, physicians, dentist and also surgeons.  They provide hands on care for sick patients and ones who are injured.  Nurses are there throughout major challenges of our lives.  They are there when we are sick, need assistance, during childbirth, accidents, and even surgery.  They are there to put the doctors orders into action, and to ensure that we get the best care possible.

Before you can become a nurse, you must obtain a nursing degree.  There are universities and community colleges you can go to to get a nursing degree. In as little as 18 months in some institutions, you can earn a nursing degree.  There are different types of degrees in nursing.  You can first become a licensed practical nurse (L.P.N.), then as a registered nurse (R.N.).  Which ever one you choose to become each have their own benefits.  Licensed practical nurses are able to check vital signs and gather paper work for the patients to give to the doctors.  Registered nurses are able to administer medication to patients.

With a nursing degree, you are able to work in various places.  Some nurses choose to work in community centers, schools, small practices, urgent care centers, and even in hospitals.  Becoming a nurse requires lots of studying and hard work.  Not only must you study and attend classes, often times you must do an internship at a hospital to receive hands on experience.  Internships allow you to put into practice all of the knowledge you have learned in school.  After you have successfully completed all of courses and internship, you will be able to earn your nursing degree and get your career underway.
