Lesson Plans

If you are a teacher, then you know how important your lesson plans are in order to have a successful school year. You need to have all of your activities outlined and stored where you can find them at any time. Unorganized lesson plans will often lead to unproductive time—time you could use teaching your students. Here are some helpful tips to get all of your lesson plans organized and within easy reach all year long.

Using File Folders:
One of the tried and true methods of organizing lessons plans is using file folders. Many teachers will have a large file cabinet in their classroom and will store past lesson plans there. You can also use file folders to organize your plans in to themes, subjects, months or even holidays. This is a great way to easily find exactly what you need in one location. If you use this method you will need ot make sure that you place all of your files back in the correct spot when you are done using them. Otherwise, the folders will do little good.

Using Lesson Plan Books:
Lesson plan books are also quite handy. These books are widely available at teacher supply stores and will allow you to plan out each day of the week. Look for lesson plan books that offer you enough space to write down all of your important information and one that makes duplicate pages. Save all of your lesson books so that you can refer to them year after year.

Lesson Plan Software:
Another useful tool that many teachers are now using for their lesson plans is lesson plan software. Lesson plan software is widely available on the Internet and at teacher supply stores. These programs will allow you to plan out each classroom day and will give you the ability to change plans as needed.

As you can see, there are many ways you can organize your lesson plans.
