Learning Content Management
No longer do companies have to send out hundreds of disks or paper bound manuals every time new duties are added that employees needed to be trained on. Instead, they can turn to the internet and take advantage of the latest e-learning technologies. No longer does the employee have to wait on a special training class. With a system for learning content management, the company invests in one training package that any number of employees can access via computer.
Basically learning content management involves online learning and the various aspects that are involved in creating the lessons themselves. Companies can create their proprietary training class material and other lessons using a system that incorporates this type of content management. Developers form this material for a company by creating different learning objects which can then be manipulated later.
These learning objects, in reference to learning content management, are pieces of materials with instructions and information on a particular subject. These objects will have an overall goal so that the student knows what they should be expected to learn; the requisite content that is needed in order to accomplish their goals (like illustrations, slide show or even simulations); and a evaluation tool in order to measure the progress of the student taking the course.
Learning content management is often incorporated into a proprietary company computer system so that it can be easily accessed by any employee who wishes to take the lessons from its content. In addition, with this type of system, the learning content management can also be easily manipulated by its developers to update information or change lessons as needed. Can you imagine the hassle it would be if a company had to re-issue computer disks and manuals every time there was the smallest change in a company policy? This e-learning movement is the wave of the learning future for companies and other entities that rely on the latest information to keep their employees informed.
