The Russian Language
The Russian language is the most geographically well-known language of Eurasia and the most extensively spoken of the Slavic languages. The Russian language belongs to the Indo-European family of languages and is also one of three or four living constituents of the East Slavic languages.

 Some other languages that are considered East Slavic languages include Belarusian and Ukrainian (and possibly Rusyn, often considered a dialect of Ukrainian).  Today the Russian language is widely used outside of Russia as well.  More than a quarter of the world's scientific literature is published in the Russian language. 

The Russian language is also understood to be a means of coding and storage of universal knowledge. Sixty to seventy percent of the entire world’s information is published in English and Russian languages. 

The Russian language is also a necessity for world communications systems (broadcasts, air and space communication, etc.  Because of the superpower status of the Soviet Union in the past, the Russian language has had immense political importance in the 20th century.  For this reason, the Russian language is still today, one of the official languages of the United Nations.

Learning to Speak Russian
In most second language Russian classes, a small amount of time is spent on speaking the language.  Although the language is taught, native English speaking students who learn Russian end up practicing to speak with each other and this will result in improper speaking.  Therefore, when a person desires to learn Russian, it is important to practice speaking with native Russian speaking individuals if possible.  This is suggested because it will help the learner to learn Russian and speak the Russian language properly.

Learning Russian can be Fun and Exciting
For a person who desires to learn Russian, it can be a fun and exciting experience. Learning Russian as a second language is a plus for anyone because many jobs, today, request for applicants to be bilingual in order to be considered for employment.  There are various diverse cultures who work together within companies today.  Therefore, it is a definite advantage to have second language skills.

Because of the increasing demand for bilingual employees, those who learn Russian will have a great advantage over those who are not bilingual.  In addition, when visiting a Russian speaking country, visitors will have a much more enjoyable visit because they will have already learned the Russian language.
